The Dumbest Thing

Campus was pretty dead over Thanksgiving weekend. Practically everyone I know here went home. That is, everyone but Juliet. We kind of just ran into each other at Starbucks, and I realized I hadn’t actually seen her in over a week. Turns out we both like gingerbread lattes.

So we started talking. All of her friends had gone home too. Here we were, the only two people in Baltimore who couldn’t do that – because our home existed in some book. We were living on the same campus, and yet we might as well have been in different worlds.

We’ve been meeting every day since then. She likes to draw and is getting really good at it. Her favorite color is green, but she’s afraid to wear it because she doesn’t think it goes with her hair. She watches the stars every night and wonders if they tell each other stories. I didn’t know these things about her. I really didn’t know anything about her.

It’s kind of dumb when you think about it. In that story, we would have died before we could even get to know each other as people. Hell, even here I was so determined to protect her, I didn’t realize I was doing the same damn thing. I broke her heart thinking it was my place to decide her future. And the dumbest thing of all is how long it took me to realize that.

I decided to tell her the truth. About everything.

Good on you Bro. This isn’t dumb, it’s actually rather good. We’re all here for you.

  • Genndy Oda C.O.G. says:

Way to go, Romeo. You ready to go back?

  • Scarab says:

We;re sticking by you, Romeo. Go for it :)

I think someone else has already mentioned it, but we are prepared to begin. Whatever is happening, all sides are in agreement that leaving the wall open is only a danger, since at best we would need to fight off all of the monsters produced by centuries of fiction, and at worst reality will collapse. As such, we need to act before the 21st of this month, and we now have the ability to send both you and Juliet home.

I personally will not force your hand, but as promised I will tell you what we know. As Wacky mentioned on your other article, there may be difficulty in sending only one of you back.

If you ask it of us, we will weave a tale that sends you back to Verona together. We will place you in the world from which you came, perhaps even before your feuding families themselves if you wish it, and then we shall hand the control of your fate over to you. In that case, we cannot guarantee a happy ending for you, but only because that is a power vested in your person instead. Your world is what you make of it, so go out there and build something great.

Tell us what you wish to do, and we shall comply.
